(add)ventures’ Stephen Rosa Receives City Year’s Moccasin Award

Stephen Rosa, president and chief creative officer of (add)ventures, stepped up and accepted the Moccasin Award from City Year Rhode Island during their graduation ceremony last week. Rosa, a board member of City Year Rhode Island and a chair of their annual fundraiser, Starry, Starry Night, was chosen for his community service to City Year throughout the past year.

“It is a tremendous honor to receive the Moccasin Award,” Rosa said. “City Year is a wonderful organization that does amazing things for our community. This award is truly one of my most proud accomplishments because it comes from an organization that I wholeheartedly believe in.”

The Moccasin Award is given annually to two external leaders who demonstrate the values of City Year and have devoted their time and energy to teaching and leading corps members and staff during the year. Past winners include Mary Ellen Panzini of the Providence Journal, Mary Jones of the Smith Hill Library, Michael Sergeson, former Principal of Sullivan School, and Elayne Walker–Cabral of the Met School in Providence.

City Year is a national organization that seeks to demonstrate, improve, and promote the concept of national service as a means for building a stronger democracy. They work towards this goal by using three core activities: running a full-time youth service corps; engaging citizens in service through large-scale, high-impact community events; and leading discussion and development of national service policies and initiatives.
