(add)ventures honors Dr. King, serves the community on MLK Day

On Janurary 18th, (add)ventures joined City Year Rhode Island in a day of service commemorating the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A team of employees joined more than 400 students, teachers and community leaders at Roger Williams Middle School in Providence, R.I. to clean and paint 40 classrooms and paint 23 murals in public spaces throughout the 80-year-old school building. The project is part of City Year Rhode Island’s effort to improve the school climate in several Providence middle schools.

“Dr. King always spoke of the ‘Beloved Community’,” said Nora Crowley, (add)ventures’ manager for social impact and organizer of the volunteer opportunity. “He called for a community in which interdependence was valued and actively sought. The Beloved Community requires participation; it requires helping hands outstretched from every direction, and that is what we witnessed at Roger Williams Middle School. (add)ventures is proud to be a part of the community that came together to make this school a more exciting place to learn.”

(add)ventures has been a longtime supporter of City Year, in both Providence and Miami, through (add)love, the firm’s philanthropic giving program. Stephen Rosa, (add)ventures president and CEO is a member of City Year Rhode Island’s Advisory Board and was recently presented with the organization’s signature Red Jacket for his many years of service as a board member and valued mentor.
