City Year Miami, a national service organization dedicated to curbing the dropout crisis in urban schools, recently kicked off its first Red Jacket Campaign. This initiative engages community members and corporate partners and uses the power of social media to share their stories of service with the world. (add)ventures' Angie Moncada led the team that worked with City Year Miami to create and implement the viral, multimedia effort on behalf of (add)ventures.
“We decided to invite people across Miami to put on the signature City Year Red Jacket and share why they serve,” said Moncada, managing director for strategy/pr at (add)ventures. “The effort not only empowers people to share the vital work of City Year, but it also builds an online community of supporters.”
It is not unusual for (add)venturists to lend their professional expertise to causes they believe in. Through (add)love, the firm's corporate giving program, (add)ventures provides gifts of leadership, opportunity, volunteerism and education to initiatives that support the health and education of children and their families. Pro bono work, board memberships, volunteer hours and mentoring are just a few of the many ways (add)venturists stay connected to the communities they work in.
For years, (add)ventures has been an ardent supporter of City Year’s mission. Stephen Rosa, (add)ventures President and CEO is a board member of City Year Rhode Island and has dedicated hours to guiding the organization’s staff and mentoring its young volunteers. In 2007, Rosa received the prestigious Starfish Award, City Year Rhode Island's highest honor, and in 2009 he was presented with his own City Year Red Jacket for his years of service.
(add)ventures' relationship with City Year Miami began in 2008 as the nonprofit organization was about to deploy a record-setting 82-member inaugural corps in Miami. The firm supported the organization’s inaugural Opening Day with public relations consulting and media relations, helping to secure great news coverage of City Year Miami’s kick off event.
