(add)ventures has successfully coordinated all media relations and communications for the Providence After School Alliance’s (PASA) launch of their first two AfterZones in Providence.

AfterZones are new neighborhood networks that will provide a variety of safe and fun learning opportunities for hundreds of youth located in five citywide neighborhoods: Lower South Side, North End / East Side, Olneyville, Smith Hill, and Upper South Side/West End, between the hours of 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM.

At a luncheon for more than 100 after school leaders at the Roger Williams Park Casino, Mayor David N. Cicilline announced the plans to kick off PASA’s AfterZones in the Upper South Side and Olneyville communities.

The event received coverage on the WJAR Channel 10’s morning, afternoon and evening news programs and in the Providence Journal.

In addition, (add)ventures created a Quality After School Standards guide to assist in building awareness and providing an informative tool for parents, students and program providers. Accompanying this guide were posters and brochures (printed in both English and Spanish) to further spread the word about AfterZones, and a new webs site: www.mypasa.org – which is a key community tool for youth, families, program providers, teachers and community leaders.

“Many thanks to (add)ventures for their work on the PASA event,” said Hillary Salmons, director of the Providence After School Alliance. “The materials they produced are lighting up the after school community. We love their work.”

All five Providence neighborhood communities will receive funds and support in the coming year to develop new quality after school programs through PASA’s three year, $400,000 initiative, to support the logistics and programming for youth. PASA’s quality improvement plans were designed with input from the Providence after-school community in addition to research conducted by staff on successful Quality Improvement initiatives in other cities such as Kansas City, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore.
