Gleaning for good
For the second year in a row, (add)ventures volunteered with Hope's Harvest RI to assist in gleaning the excess corn at Four Town Farm in Seekonk, Mass. Our team of (add)venturists gathered 1,257 pounds of fresh corn, which will be donated to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. This initiative is a part of our (add)love program, which aims to give back to the community and foster a spirit of kindness and generosity.
Founder and CEO, Steve Rosa, shared a personal connection to the cause: “My family experienced a long period of food insecurity when I was young. The fear and stress were real and traumatic. Helping the Food Bank and a local farm at the same time means double to me.”
Steve added, “volunteering as a team not only allows us to give back to the community but also enhances our sense of unity and purpose. By working together, we not only support those in need but also strengthen our connections with one another.”
Chris Littlefield, one of the (add)venturists who participated, noted, “It was pretty eye-opening hearing about the volume of food that gets left on the fields. Also, it was shocking how good the corn was raw and fresh off of the stalks; we were encouraged to try it out.”
Another (add)venturist, Steph Filardo, added, “Volunteering for Hope's Harvest at Four Town Farms was the highlight of my year last year, and I could not wait to be a part of it again this year. Having the opportunity to combine being outside with my colleagues with doing good for the community really hits home for me. I look forward to participating for many years to come!”
The (add)love program continues to impact our community positively. As we continue our philanthropic journey, we are reminded that the power of love and teamwork can yield incredible results, both in the workplace and beyond.
